This past year a Massachusetts-based company that produces a unique medical device (we signed an NDA) contacted us with a special request: could we evaluate the current level of English language proficiency of their team partners and then provide a plan for how they could each improve their English language skills? Management's goal was to help improve the team partners' level of English language proficiency at the workplace focusing on vocabulary specific to their industry
We met with HR, management, and with the English Language Learners (ELLs), gathered the necessary information, assessed the current language situation, and provided this potential client with a proposal.
Our proposal was accepted!
We then met with their team partners once per week over the course of several consecutive weeks. By observing and assessing the team partners’ language skills we witnessed how the non-native English speakers interacted as a team in English. We then determined each of their levels of proficiency in English.
We then provided our client with a lesson plan for how their organization can, using their own internal day-to-day workplace communication and with the support of their English proficient coworkers, implement the lesson plan that would improve all of the team partners’ English language skills and proficiency.
When we offer this service we check in every few weeks to assess the progress and tweak the lesson plan as needed. This service can be customized to your organization’s unique needs.
